Balance Legal Capital is pleased to have been recognised in the recent litigation funding ranking in the UK by Chambers and Partners.

As reported by Chambers and Partners, market sources described Balance as an “energetic” funder, “a market disrupter” in the litigation funding industry, gaining a reputation as being “up and coming, and hungry”.

The legal expertise and experience of Balance’s team was praised by clients and industry experts, who called them “clever, bright, and able.” Their knowledge is especially valued by clients during due diligence, who say: “They are experienced litigators who understand what questions to ask and what the answers mean.”

Balance can be relied on to involve themselves closely with the case. “They really engage with you,” says one source, with another adding that “they really got behind us and wanted to understand the case.”

Robert Rothkopf, Managing Partner at Balance Legal Capital was also recognised individually by Chambers and Partners, commented “We’re thrilled to be included in Chambers and Partners’ litigation funding guide.  We’re in good company.”

Robert Rothkopf interviewed for the Houthoff Class Action Survey 2024

Robert Rothkopf provided a funder’s view on group and class action proceedings in the UK for the Houthoff Class Action Survey 2024.   The survey offers perspectives on class action trends in 12 jurisdictions.

Robert’s predictions for the future of class actions in the UK included the expansion of claim types that will be permitted under the opt-out jurisdiction, and confirmation of the court’s jurisdiction to order defendants to pay litigation funding costs on top of damages where defendant wrongdoing and/or litigation conduct is egregious, instead of claimant’s meeting funding costs from compensation.

Thanks to Houthoff for their initiative in leading this important research.
